Manila, Philippines (AHN) - A group of search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) practitioners said U.S. SEO and SEM firms are considering outsourcing their business to the Philippines.
SEO Philippines said the U.S. firms see the country as an alternative outsourcing site to India, the world's leading call center and business process outsourcing hub.
Marc Hil J. Macalua, founder of SEO Philippines, said that demand for time-consuming and labor-intensive SEO tasks, such as article writing, link building, and HTML editing, is growing and U.S. firms tend to outsource these tasks. He said the tasks can be outsourced to freelance individuals skilled in SEO/SEM programming and writing.
The Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPA/P) said SEM is definitely another sector that the Philippines can participate in. BPA/P chief executive officer Oscar Sanez said there are already local companies that do programming, software development and application or content-building and marketing.
The Philippine BPO industry, which is focused on call center and transcription services, can capitalize on the multi-billion SEO/SEM market of the U.S. The SEM Professional Organization estimated the value of the North America SEO/SEM industry at $9.6 billion in 2006. The international group predicted the 2006 value to increase twice to $18.6 billion by 2011.
